I get a lot of people asking me what actually happens at blog events, so I’m gonna break it down for you. First of all, no, I don’t get to meet lots of celebrities, but I do get to meet lots of cool bloggers.
I recently attended my 3rd event by Scarlett London, ‘Bloggers Ball’ at The Trading House in London. I love Scarlett’s events, they’re so well organised and relaxed and there are lots of opportunities to talk to brands or make blogger friends.
All bloggers were greeted with a friendly ‘hello’ from Scarlett (the organiser of the event/blogger) with a glass of blueberry prosecco waiting for us at the bar (it was delish!). Most bloggers were queueing for the photo booth but I started networking with brands straight away.. I get a bit awkward taking pictures by myself!
First brand I visited was SanDisk where I got some fab photography tips from a professional photographer who taught me about shutter speeds, aperture and how to take layout photos for Instagram. I was also given a USB which can be used to back up photos from your iPhone or iPad, pretty nifty!
Next stop was a little red carpet with funky props for you to take pictures with. I wish I had the confidence to take pictures by myself, but to be honest, I can be a bit of a shy and awkward person. So I got chatting to brands instead…
For the next hour I mooched around the tables with brand goodies and got talking to brands such as Mox London (very cool metallic bath bombs), Style Sportif, Lipivir and AQ Skin Solutions. A few of the brands had competitions in which you had to take a picture of the brands products, post it on social media and the best picture wins the brands’ goodies.
I was pretty tired after walking around for an hour so I sat by the bar where I got talking to a blogger. There’s a reason behind why people start their blogs, and this one blogger had a pretty inspirational story. After working in Law for 5 years she admitted to herself that she didn’t like it and so she decided to quit to follow her passion for fashion. She was approaching 30, some may see that as a pretty risky move, but it’s never too late to chase your dreams! We had a long chat about marketing, sharing blogging tips and talking about how much we love animals (seriously, they’re damn cute).
By the time I had finished talking to the blogger, the event was almost over. But there was one think that I HAD to do before I left. I headed over to Lipivir and had my lips painted with glitter, it was faaabulous, despite the weird looks I got on the train.
It was a fun and chilled day and I definitely recommend Scarlett’s events.
If you’re a shy person and feel a bit nervous about going to blog events, don’t worry, a lot of people feel the same! Before blog events I always see people tweeting each other about how they’re going to the event alone and they want a blogger buddy to go with. The blogger community is really supportive so feel free to contact a fellow blogger, or even me, to attend an event with you.
Thank you Scarlett for another fab event and for the amazing goodie bag as always!
