Emma Watson, the ambassador for UN Women, is such a beautiful, elegant and intelligent woman.
She gave such a powerful speech about gender equality at the HeForShe Campaign launch in 2014 and I LOVE that she involved the importance of men in achieving gender equality. My fave line has to be ‘Men, I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue too…’ and she then goes on to talk about how men are affected by gender inequality.
Pretty much everyone who knows me knows that I’m a feminist, I’m pretty open about it and I’m actually proud to call myself a feminist. No, I’m not a ‘man hater’ which is often what people think a feminist is, I’m just a firm believer in equality. Anything a man can do, a woman can do. Anything a woman can do, a man can do. You know why? Coz they’re both human and they both have rights. Simple.
So this is why I sketched Emma Watson, she’s an inspiration to me and I hope she inspires you as well, whatever your gender.
I sketched this piece with my new PrismaColor pencils. Why did it take me so long to discover these?! They’re amazing! My previous sketches are done with watercolour pencils, but when blending the colours with water, the paintbrush leaves streaks which isn’t ideal. I was recommended these Prismacolor Pencils which blend with either paint thinner or baby oil. The colours looks so much smoother and this sketch looks more life like than my watercolour sketches.
